Hiking in Beacon Hill

Absolutely beautiful walk through Beacon Hill (near our home).

Climbing Trees
Great walk through a labyrinth with all sort of carved treasures to find.

Our latest visitor, Flat K. She is traveling all over with us.
You should see her climb a tree.

DE's 40th Birthday Party

A really fun night at the Castle Hotel. Everyone really dressed up. V stayed home with the Kids. Thanks. Pictures coming.

Can anybody hear me?

Just trying to figure out if anyone is reading. I know people don't like to sign up or register, so how about sending me an email at lifeinleicester@yahoo.com. You can just say, I am reading or let me know what you think! It would be so nice.

Hanging Out

We tried to have a low key week. Over the weekend, we went swimming and played at Abby Park on Sunday. On Saturday we stayed in, but managed a short bike ride/run. (I actually ran and V pulled the kids in the burly.) Then we went to an indoor playground for a short bit. About 20 minutes in, I was nuts. There were so many people.

Warning: Parent Brag moment, but I can't help it!
The past two weeks were top notch for S. She was given Star of the Week for being a joy in class, and then she had a Note Home for being a great helper tidying up (hmmm, I knew she knew how to clean her room:) Then on Thursday she was presented at the school awards assembly with sustained achievement in impeccable conduct and care towards her peers (they only give out 8 merit awards per year, per grade.) So it has been a good high around here for her and us.

Tuesday, V had a night out at the health club and then dinner with a friend. Wednesday, S had a birthday party and won the bowling tournament (I took X swimming). Thursday, I had a night out with the girls at a local Curry place. Great night for N's birthday-haha!

Outside of all of this we have had a bunch of paperwork, business and personal projects we have been trying to get a handle on. I feel a bit crazed.

Now, we start a two week break from school for Easter. Love you all!

Driving through the Lake District

On the way home from CenterParks, we drove through the Lake District. It reminds me of the cottage area outside of Greenbay (I just can't think of the name!) It was a lovely day. But, if I am honest, I slept for a good portion of the drive. We stopped at a little town for lunch and walked around a bit. It is really a summer place.

Ladies Night Out

Had the best night out with the girls. (I must admit, it also made me homesick.) We went for curry. The food and service were really good. It was even N's birthday (well, we were only kidding, but couldn't turn down the desert when they brought it!)

Weekend at CenterParks

What a great weekend (March 12th, I am really behind again). We had a lovely cottage house with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. Each family provided a dinner and breakfast and we did pizza another night for the kids, while the men cooked roast dinner for Mother's day. We swam each day and watch movies at night. The kids played outside and we explored the grounds and playgrounds. C and I went up late one night to the pool and hit the big slides. I was so beat up from an hour on them. I must be getting old! S and X are like fish. X has no fear. He loves to swim under water.

Crossbow class.

We swam and swam and swam

This was the line to get in!

You Know You have been a Stay at Home Mom too Long when...

You accidentally tell your husband to "use his words."

Thank goodness he still puts up with me!

Stratford Upon Avon-Shakespeare

Before leaving for the day, we chatted with our neighbor for 1/2 hour.
He wasn't born when we came!
A picture I really liked.

Hello, operator?

We had a lovely weekend. V and I celebrated 13 years of marriage (really, am I that old?) with dinner at the Case and seeing Avatar. It was a great night to reconnect.

Saturday, we spent the day at Stratford upon Avon, Shakespeare's home. It was such a charming town. We visited the Anne Hathaway house and Shakespeare's birth home. Both houses had great period dressed actors sharing the details of the times. It was incredibly interesting. It was the law until the 20th century that you should beat your wife if she burnt the bread three times in a row! S shouted, "What happened to the husband if he burnt the bread!"

We also strolled around town, had a nice Italian lunch and walked around the river area. We even managed to escape going to the butterfly house. We planned to go, (S really wanted to) but the tickets were $30 for the family. The clerk said it would take about 20 minutes to see the butterflies. Ugh! So, the kids happily got trinkets in the gift shop and we headed to the park.

Sunday, we had friends over for the kids and grilled burgers. Later we spent 2 hours playing outside with the neighbor boys. Biking, football (soccer), tag, and some good old fashion American kickball. It was really a blast.
