More about the Car

The rental agency for V's car showed up yesterday afternoon to pick up a car. I told them the pick up wasn't until Thursday. "Ohhh." Then I called V, he hadn't even called to exchange the car yet. They just randomly showed up. Amazing.

Conwy, Wales

Conwy Castle is one of six castles built
by Richard I as a show of force over the Welsh.

We see these signs here in England as well, so funny. I have
seen warnings to watch for many things, but the Elderly?

Our last minute B&B

There was a festival in town and almost no where to stay.
We each shared a bed with a child. We also had a hard time finding dinner.
But came across a pub with great food and a couple from Texas.
Again, she doesn't look sick, but moments later...
See the Welsh.
Shopping and Fairies!

Chester and Chester Zoo

The tram ride was our favorite

The Chester Zoo was fine, but as V says “I think that we are getting harder to impress.” And there was so many people it was suffocating. But never mind…
We let S use X’s stroller, because of being sick the night before. X thought the best part of the day was his “car.”

The black mane was really cool
X popped some child twice X's size because he wouldn't let him in the turtle shell and was bullying X. This creates a strange mix of horror and pride.

See the butterflies?

The very loud guy would not get off his cell phone. We were so glad he wasn't in our car.
The poor people who were riding with him. Boy, some people have no etiquette.

Boat ride in Chester

Chester was a beautiful, riverside village with a lot of history.
I bet it is truly lovely on a warm day.

Caves

At the very last minute (Saturday morning before leaving the house) we decided to get away for the long weekend. The first weekend in May is a Bank Holiday. We headed to the caves about two hours north west of the house, and then on to Chester. The following day we went to the Chester Zoo and then decided to drive to Wales. We were so close, we just couldn’t resist. We ended up staying another night in a bed and breakfast.
The mines are famous for mining Blue John a yellow blue stone
once very valuable for decoration.

The cave we visited. S was scared but pulled through.Tap the dwarf's head for luck.

The background is rumored to be a fairyland
The English Countryside still amazes us

Fudge Break
Potty Break

She doesn't look sick here, but moments later?
In motion, always.

May Pole

S had a May Pole program at school. They worked on it from February until May and twice a day during the final two weeks. S said she never wanted to May Pole dance again. We loved watching and even X seemed mystified. I must admit, for a long time I thought she was saying, we are “Maple Dancing” at school. I had never heard of May Pole dancing.

Date Day

Girls’ Day
I asked S what she wanted to do for a girls’ day. She chose a nice dinner and getting dressed up. We both put on our “best dresses” and went for lunch. She is getting so grown up. We also shopped for her birthday party (I can’t believe she will be six.) She had a swimming lesson and a birthday party as well.

Boys’ Day
V and X went skating in Nottingham with friend N (from V’s work.) The pictures show having a beer and arm wrestling. Hmmm. We girls met up with them at N’s (after our Birthday party) and we had a BBQ. We were all so tired by days end. It was fun, but we will need a day to recover.

A Long Journey Ahead

The kids are learning to ride bikes.

Critter Party

S went to the best birthday party. It was 1 ½ hour show of seeing, learning about and touching all sorts of critters. Snakes, scorpions, an albino skunk, hedgehog, chameleon and so on. The kids were so fascinated.
