Summer Days and Random Thoughts

We had a busy week at home. We have done several craft projects, ridden bikes, and played outside whenever we could.

Yesterday, we met friends at Bumpi's (soft play). X was truly tired out, but S didn't want to leave. It was really fun. We ended our day with a bike ride to the playground.

Last weekend we took the kids to see Ice Age III. It was awful. The story was really weak (granted it was a part III), but it was so scary we left the theater.

We also made another trip to the library.

I was asked if I am Irish again. Funny, I never thought we sounded Irish.

I want to remember how hard V has been working. He works all the time over the last several months. The norm is 16 hours a day plus weekends. I hope he gets a break soon.

Home, Song by Michael Buble

I love Michael Buble but only recently heard this song. It is so beautiful. I dedicate this to everyone back home.

Home
Song by Michael Buble

Another summer day
Is come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm

Maybe surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh I miss you, you know

And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aerorplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home

Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
But this was not your dream
But you always believe in me

Another winter day has come
And gone away
And even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

Weekend in Devon and Cornwall

I broke my balloon.

Outside of our cottage doors.
Yes, this is an actual road (just one of many like it.) The picture doesn't do it justice. You cannot imagine how small it really was. But the GPS recognized it. The first night driving 5 hours to Devon, we got within 6 miles of the resort and had to turn around the road was washed out. Thank goodness for the GPS. We arrived 1 1/2 hours later around 1 am and finally got everyone to bed by 2 am!
Set into a steep hillside, Clovelly is one of the most famous villages in the world. The single cobbled high street winds its way down the hillside through traditional whitewashed cottages festooned with fuchsias and geraniums.

Unusually, the village is privately owned and has been by the same family since 1738. Their policy is to care for Clovelly and keep it in the style of the mid C19th. Traffic is banned from the high street with visitors parking at the top of the hill.

The pictures don't do justice to Clovelly.

Every single street and staircase. You could never do this with a cane, wheelchair, etc.

The old biddy in the back was named Bill. What a great treat and view.End of the day recharge. Yummy.
Westward Ho! (only town with an ! in its name), North Shore of Devon.
Beautiful scenery, but very cold and desolate.
The biggest tic tac toe game ever.

Yummy. Had a great conversion with an elderly couple :). The gentleman had four US soldiers staying with him as a child, preparing for D-day. Only one returned from the invasion. He visited them many years later. They ended the evening by giving the "great children" money for
an ice cream.

Good Travelers

Weekend in Devon and Cornwall Part 2

As you can tell, we basically spent 4 days at different beaches in the rain and cold. I have determined that England is like MN. If you don't go out when it is snowy and cold, you don't go out. Or if you don't go out when it is rainy and cold, you don't go out.

Newquay, North Shore Cornwall-our favorite.
