Pork Pies and Belton House

On our Saturday journey we stopped at Melton Mowbray for Pork Pies. Apparently, that is a must while living in England and the best place for them. Not my cup of tea. V kept telling me, I liked them and just didn’t know it yet. (Boy, the kids should pop me one next time I tell them that!) I don’t think V liked them either.

Belton House is yet another stop on our quest to see every stately home in England, or at least that’s what our friends think, as we have seen far more than most Brits. I would have to rank this one as highly disappointing. The house was very shabby and the things that were remodeled where done with very cheap, tacky remakes. On the bright side, the grounds were beautiful and it had a great playground. We even took a fun little train ride around the area. The weather was even nice. I just wish we could have shown my parents a nicer home.

And because we never like to leave a minute unused, we had a sitter come that night so the grown ups could go out for dinner. Unfortunately, no one felt that well, so we had an ok meal at an Italian restaurant and shopped around the new mall a bit. It was a short night out. X was still awake when we got home, he had taken a 5:00 nap in the car so I can’t blame him. So swimming, pork pies, Belton and dinner all in one day.
