S Birthday
We decided to have S's birthday party here at the house. We prayed for good weather as we planned for two hours of entertaining, 16, 6 year olds and one 2 year old. (Her original list included around 40 kids! We got it down to 16 with 15 attending.) Of course, it rained as though it were a world ending flood!@#!
We hired the neighbor girl and a friend to help out. One of my good friends even stayed. She was a godsend at the end when a few tussels started with the girls.
There was a craft table to make crowns and shields, a cookie decorating table, and a games station. We opened with "S says" and then three groups rotating around the three stations, we also played pass the parcel, danced and played a few large group games. The last 15 minutes we turned on a movie. Parents trickled in to pick up kids over the next 45 minutes. All in all it was a success. No one got hurt or cried. The favorite activity was cookie decorating. I must admit they did a great job.
A few other notes, the party was "fancy dress" or a costume party. S wanted to be annouced at the party-as the Queen of the party once everyone arrived. We decided that it might not be a good idea. S picked out her cake and decorated it herself. We were scandelous and followed the American tradition of eating the cake at the party, instead of sending it home. X was completely overwhelmed by the activities. We ended up putting a tv show on in our bedroom for him.
Next year, I hope she is old enough for a small party at a bowling alley:)
X even attended a friend's party later that afternoon. V took him, as I was too wiped out.
