The general election is going on now. The campaigning only lasts for a month. It was the first ever UK televised debate. The polls seem to favor the conservatives (tories), and lib dems, a close second and labor (current party in power), in last place.

All Sorts of Stuff
We visited Foxton Locks, a place where the river boaters stop. The boats must have been narrow, the locks were only 7 feet wide. It was a day to walk around outside and we took a short boat ride.
We had a great walk and playground time with friends (H family) and then they came for a bbq.
X and I spent a good bit of time cleaning out the garden and digging the biggest, bestest, ickiest worms! He loved it.
S and I spent an evening with 3 mums and daughters at the schools quiz night. It was fun, but really needed more kid questions, or we needed the girls to be a bit older. They got bored. Everyone came back here for a treat (American Rice Krispie Bars) and wine.
We attended a lovely St. George's party with the H family at their neighbors. We were invited, because they wanted that lovely American family to come along. Ha, the poor fools:) It was fun.
S lost another tooth. It was fully disappointing when the tooth fairy brought her money instead of real fairy dust, per her request, as S wants to fly. Apparently, it is against the rules to give out the dust to humans.

1st Sleepover for S.
S had her first sleepover. A friend-MH spent the night. The girls slept in the guest bed. They had dinner, played and watched a movie, including treats and popcorn. And finally, an early morning play. When I asked to read the girls a bedtime story, they turned me down, as they can read to themselves (can you see the tears:(. We even finished the morning with pancakes. A very successful showing.

Yorkshire Moors and the Seaside
York-Castle Howard
Home to the Howard family for over 300 years, Castle Howard is a magnificent 18th-century residence set within 1,000 acres of breathtaking landscape. Visit and enjoy world-renowned collections, stunning architecture and inspiring family stories. Relax amid idyllic gardens, enjoy woodland and lakeside walks, or encourage younger ones to let off steam on the adventure playground. ---In other words, it was another very old castle, grand home with beautiful grounds, an adventure playground and overpriced cafe. Hmmm, maybe we have done this too much! (See this is why I haven't been blogging, I sound bitter.)
York for Easter-In the town
Sorry for the long delay. We have been so busy and really I haven't felt like blogging. We had a good trip over Easter in York. Although, I have to admit we seem to have done it for little, old towns, castles and such. That being said, York is truly beautiful. We visited York Minster (Easter Sunday Service), the National Rail Museum, explored the old town and visited Dig (history lesson about the Vikings and a chance for the kids to dig and play archeologist.) We also did plenty of swimming in the hotel pool. We hiked the Yorkshire Moors(I think of the Secret Garden and V thinks American Werewolf in London) it was the ultimate mudfest. We even visited the seaside and Castle Howard. What, we had 3 whole days and it was only a 3 hour drive (5-6 hours total through the moors.)
We met an American, living in and married to a Yorkie for 18 years. She said after all this time, she was still an outsider. When they retired, she hoped to move somewhere else, warm. She was sweet as pie, of course she was a fellow Midwesterner.

So strange to be able to enjoy a meal, at a restaurant with the kids.
They draw and puzzle and even chat.

It was such a full day he couldn't stay awake for his "pudding." Funny thing was that V thought I had ordered it, and I thought he ordered it, and after 1/2 an hour we were going to complain! Oops.
